Holy Spirit School subscribes to a philosophy that believes the unique needs of students in Yrs 5-6 can best be met in a middle schooling setting. Literature emphasises that young adolescents benefit from a teaching/learning environment which provides a student-centered program and recognises that students of this age are undergoing greater physiological, psychological, and social re-orientation than at any other period in their lives.
The overall purpose of the middle schooling programme is to meet the spiritual, educational, developmental and social needs of the students that emerge in this transitional period. Middle schooling practices provide a supportive and flexible environment so students will have opportunities to develop skills and explore a variety of learning experiences as they prepare for the transition from primary to high school.
